King of Uruk, the ancient city of Shinar

He was the son of Lugalbanda and, according to legend, the goddess Ninsun.

According to the Epic of Gilgamesh, he ordered the creation of the legendary walls of Uruk.

He was succeeded by his son Ur-Nungal.
