The Israelites are Gods chosen people, the group of people who God decided to lavish his love apon, before Jesus Christ.
The Israelites became later known as the Jews, and Jesus was a Jew, From the tribe of Judah
The Israelites were once held captive as slaves in Egypt, until Moses led them into the desert, and then Joshua led them to the Promised Land, which became known as Israel.
