The eighth Judge of Israel, which he ruled for twenty-two years. His opulence is described in Jdg 10:3ff. He had thirty sons, each riding on "ass colts." They had possession of thirty of the sixty cities (1 Kg 4:13; 1Chr 2:23) which formed the ancient Havoth-jair.

A Gileadite who judged Israel for twenty-two years. He had thirty sons; and thirty cities were called after him "Havoth-jair." He was buried at Camon (Jdg 10:3ff). This Jair is probably the same as No. 1. According to another tradition the number of cities called after him was twenty-three (1Chr 2:22).
