11: οτι πας ο υψων εαυτον ταπεινωθησεται και ο ταπεινων εαυτον υψωθησεται— edit Textus Receptus
11: For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.- edit KJV text
11: Because every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.— edit Douay text

Whosoever exalteth, &c. This is universal among men, and it is also the way in which God will deal with men. Men will perpetually endeavour to bring down those who endeavour to exalt themselves; and it is a part of God's regular plan to abase the proud, to bring down the lofty, to raise up those that be bowed down, and show his favours to those who are poor and needy.
