Luke Chapter 23, Verse 26

26: και ως απηγαγον αυτον επιλαβομενοι σιμωνος τινος κυρηναιου του ερχομενου απ αγρου επεθηκαν αυτω τον σταυρον φερειν οπισθεν του ιησου
26: And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the
cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
26: And as they led him away, they laid hold of one Simon of Cyrene,
coming from the country; and they laid the cross on him to carry after
Jesus.
After Jesus. Probably to bear one end of the cross. Jesus was feeble and unable to bear it alone, and they compelled Simon to help him.
