46: και ειπεν αυτοις οτι ουτως γεγραπται και ουτως εδει παθειν τον χριστον και αναστηναι εκ νεκρων τη τριτη ημερα
46: And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

It behoved It became proper or necessary that the Messiah should
thus suffer. It was predicted of him, and all things have happened as
it was foretold.
