Mark Chapter 1, Verse 3
From BibleWiki
3: φωνη βοωντος εν τη ερημω ετοιμασατε την οδον κυριου ευθειας ποιειτε τας τριβους αυτου
3: The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
3: A voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the
Lord; make straight his paths.
- φωνὴ βοῶντος á¼Î½ τῇ á¼Ïήμῳ, Ἑτοιμάσατε τὴν á½Î´á½¸Î½ κυÏίου, εá½Î¸ÎµÎ¯Î±Ï‚ ποιεῖτε τὰς Ï„Ïίβους αá½Ï„οῦ, [WHNU]
A voice of one crying in the desert, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight’.â€
- βοῶντος is a substantival participle.
- Ἑτοιμάσατε is aorist imperative while ποιεῖτε is present imperative, but we must be careful not to overtranslate what is admittedly a subtle distinction.
