6: And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;- edit KJV text
6: And John was clothed camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins: and he ate locusts and wild honey.— edit Douay text

And John used to wear camel hair and a leather belt around his loins and used to eat locusts and wild honey.

  • We have taken the imperfect periphrastic construction ἦν ἐνδεδυμένος to denote a habitual action, hence the translation ‘used to’.
