6: ην δε ιωαννης ενδεδυμενος τριχας καμηλου και ζωνην δερματινην περι την οσφυν αυτου και εσθιων ακριδας και μελι αγριον
6: And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
6: And John was clothed camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his
loins: and he ate locusts and wild honey.
- καὶ ἦν ὠἸωάννης á¼Î½Î´ÎµÎ´Ï…μÎνος Ï„Ïίχας καμήλου καὶ ζώνην δεÏματίνην πεÏá½¶ τὴν ὀσφὺν αá½Ï„οῦ καὶ á¼ÏƒÎ¸Î¯Ï‰Î½ ἀκÏίδας καὶ μÎλι ἄγÏιον· [WHNU]
And John used to wear camel hair and a leather belt around his loins and used to eat locusts and wild honey.
- We have taken the imperfect periphrastic construction ἦν á¼Î½Î´ÎµÎ´Ï…μÎνος to denote a habitual action, hence the translation ‘used to’.
