Mark Chapter 6, Verse 2

2: και γενομενου σαββατου ηρξατο εν τη συναγωγη διδασκειν και πολλοι ακουοντες εξεπλησσοντο λεγοντες ποθεν τουτω ταυτα και τις η σοφια η δοθεισα αυτω οτι και δυναμεις τοιαυται δια των χειρων αυτου γινονται
2: And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the
synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From
whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this
which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are
wrought by his hands?
2: And when the Sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue:
and many hearing him were in admiration at his doctrine, saying: How
came this man by all these things? and what wisdom is this that is given
to him, and such mighty works as are wrought by his hands?
καὶ γενομÎνου σαββάτου ἤÏξατο διδάσκειν á¼Î½ τῇ συναγωγῇ,καὶ πολλοὶ ἀκοÏοντες á¼Î¾ÎµÏ€Î»Î®ÏƒÏƒÎ¿Î½Ï„ο λÎγοντες,
Πόθεν τοÏτῳ ταῦτα, καὶ τίς ἡ σοφία ἡ δοθεῖσα τοÏτῳ, καὶ αἱ δυνάμεις τοιαῦται διὰ τῶν χειÏῶν αá½Ï„οῦ
γινόμεναι; (WHNU)
And, as it was (lit. ‘becoming’) the Sabbath, he went to teach in the synagogue, and many of those hearing were amazed, saying, “Where does this man get these things (lit. Whence this man these things) and what is the wisdom that he has been given and such powers coming through his hands?
- γενομÎνου is an example of a genitive absolute, providing additional information not related to the subject of the main verb.
- πολλοὶ ἀκοÏοντες is an anarthous use of the adjectival participle in attributive position.
