Psalm Chapter 1, Verse 1
Ummm, I did that intentionally, I was putting up a version that is truer to the hebrew origanal as seperate from the KJV (which is translated from the greek), like I did in other places as as seperate page
RWiki Yahoo Group
Tony,
I'd like to invite you to join the RWiki Yahoo Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rwiki/.
Here's the description:
This group is an informal association of administrators of religiously-based wikis. Most of us are using MediaWiki, but administrators of other wiki engines are also invited to join.
We envision this as a low-volume list where administrators of religiously rooted wiki communities can trade tips and ideas, work together to fight spambots and vandals, and so on.
RWiki is sponsored by OrthodoxWiki (http://www.orthodoxwiki.org). It is open to wikis based in all "recognized" religious communities. This generally does not include NRMs or groups commonly described as "cults."
The archives of this list are kept private, and membership is restricted to those who genuinely qualify for this kind of group. Please apply with the name and URL of your wiki, as well as a description of your role in managing it.
Yours in Christ,
FrJohn - http://www.orthodoxwiki.org
commentary pages?
I was just wondering what the point of the commentary pages are? For example... 2 Peter Chapter 3, Verse 18/commentary... why not just put the commentary on the verse page itself (2 Peter Chapter 3, Verse 18)? Is the commentary really going to be used somewhere else on the site? seems like more work and complexness than is needed in my opinion. Anyways ;-) --Ymmotrojam 22:11, 22 January 2006 (GMT)
- oops, I just saw your reasoning for it on the home page ;-), but still even then it can be on the verse pages but clearly marked that it is commentary, it doesn't have to be separate. --Ymmotrojam 22:23, 22 January 2006 (GMT)
- It's less work, and less complex IMO. (Much of what I'm doing here is scripted, rather than being done manually). And I don't see how it hurts. Separation of concerns is generally a good thing. --TonyBowden 06:39, 23 January 2006 (GMT)
- I'm curious to know what you mean by "scripted". Are you referring to the use of templates, or that you are using scripts to input data? --Ymmotrojam 03:16, 30 January 2006 (GMT)
- I'm using scripts to input data. --TonyBowden 08:02, 30 January 2006 (GMT)
- btw, I'd be interested on knowing what you used as this could help other wikis :-). is it a bot? --Ymmotrojam 21:11, 18 March 2006 (GMT)
- It's sort-of a bot. It's a collection of perl scripts that I've written for working with pages here. --TonyBowden 21:12, 18 March 2006 (GMT)
Bot for mass uploads
Would it be possible to use a bot user to do the mass uploads of commentaries, etc. That way, if people do decide to discuss an issue or to add something on a less massive scale, it won't immediately be drowned in recent changes if the bots are hidden (as they are by default).--Steve 15:23, 27 March 2006 (BST)
Welcome template
For some of the high-volume wikis, such as the English-language Wikipedia, they will have a welcome template created so that any editors who greet new editors have a standard greeting to use. For example, the Wikipedia's welcome template is at Wikipedia:Template:Welcome. To welcome the new editor, all they have to do then is add {{welcome}}~~~~ to the user's talk page. They will then see the "You have new messages" box at the top of the next page they look at.
You can see that the template has links to where some of the more important information for editors is on the Wikipedia. For non-Wikimedia Foundation wikis, there also should be a page on "How we are different from the Wikipedia" because many editors will already be familiar with the policies of the Wikipedia and may assume that all wikis are the same. wiki upgraded
I noticed that the wiki has been upgraded to the latest stable branch (1.6.2). I know this is a question outside of BibleWiki, but what was the upgrade procedure like? I've been having trouble with it. Is it just a matter of uploading the new files to the same directory? I know there's some database stuff, but I keep doing something wrong. thanks. --Ymmotrojam 03:17, 11 April 2006 (BST)

Jesus as Messiah
From what I've found, there is no page showing the Messianic prophecies and how Jesus fulfilled all of them. I hesitate to create one, but is there a page in existence on this subject? --Yahweh's 20:28, 2 August 2007 (BST)
